Why Bafang
We tested three powertrains. What won wasn't just peak watts — it was a strong, quiet turbo pull from a complete system built by one company.
As a breakout brand, that matters. When something needs support, there's no finger-pointing between motor, controller, and display vendors. Bafang stands behind the system, with parts support through Bafang's Los Angeles warehouse, where they stock common parts — not a scavenger hunt.
That's why our bikes run Bafang: quiet power, one throat to choke, and a partner strong enough to protect us and our customers from day one.

Why SunPower 50SE
Standard and all future packs are SunPower 50SE. The current Rocket ST batch is Samsung 25Ah (50GB) + 10Ah (50S). After that batch, every LEGIT bike ships SunPower 50SE.
We compared cell platforms for our dual 25Ah + 10Ah packs the same way we compare motors — under real load. Here is how Samsung 50GB, Samsung 50S, and SunPower 50SE stack up on published continuous discharge.
Samsung INR21700-50G / 50GB — Energy-focused. Continuous discharge about 9.8A (2C); 14.7A only in a limited temperature window. Strong capacity cell, not built for hard continuous current.
Samsung INR21700-50S — High-rate. Continuous discharge 25A without temperature cutoff; 45A only with 80°C surface temperature cut (Samsung datasheet).
SunPower INR21700-50SE — High-rate. SunPower publishes about 30A continuous (~6C) for the 5000mAh 50SE. That is the discharge headroom we needed for 72V hard-throttle riding.
We chose SunPower 50SE over Samsung 50GB for a clear discharge upgrade, and over Samsung 50S for additional continuous-current margin. We build these packs with copper bus bars for lower resistance and cleaner current delivery under load.
Manufacturers test cycle life at very different currents. A cell cycled at 1C will always look longer-lived on paper than one cycled at 25A — so published cycle counts aren't identical tests.
Under those published conditions: Samsung 50GB is about 80% after 500 mild cycles; Samsung 50S is about 60% after 250 hard 25A cycles; SunPower 50SE is in the long-cycle / ~500–600 class. We chose 50SE for discharge headroom, then finish the pack with copper bus bars.

Why we cost a few hundred more — and still save you money
Power matters. So do ride quality and build quality. Most competitors ship a base bike, then riders spend hundreds upgrading the fork, gears, brakes, seat, and dropper.
LEGIT puts the serious hardware on from the start:
- Dual-crown fork
- 9-speed with thumb shifters
- 220mm thickened rotors
- DDK memory-foam seat
- Air dropper post
These parts ship standard — not as pricey upgrades.
All LEGIT parts are interchangeable from bike to bike — with the exception of the wheel package.
Bought separately, that package commonly lands in the $750–$950 range. We price a few hundred higher because power, ride quality, and build quality travel together — you don't pay twice for the bike you actually wanted.
Sized to ride — for more than one rider
We went smaller for size, stability, and safety — and so our wives could ride too. A lower, more planted bike that's practical to get on and control, without giving up the 72V power that makes these machines rock.
That's the point of our 24" and 20" platforms: serious performance in a package more people can actually enjoy.
